Blackout curtains are designed to block light for complete darkness. Room darkening curtains block most of the light, and some products state 70% to 90%, so the room stays softly dim. Each product lists its exact light-blocking level in the Product details tab.
The fabric blocks the light, but light can still come in around the edges. Fit your pole 15–30 cm wider than the window frame on each side, and let the two panels overlap by at least 5 cm in the centre.
Most windows need two panels, one for each side. Buy two curtains and save 10%, or three or more and save 15%.
