Curtain Measuring Guide
1

Measure the width

Measure your curtain rod or track from end to end — not the window frame itself. Your curtains should extend well beyond the glass on each side.

Measure the rod — not the window+15-30 cm+15-30 cm
Extend the rod 15–30 cm beyond the window frame on each side — the window appears wider and lets in more light when curtains are open.
2

Measure the drop

Measure from the top of the rod down to where you want the curtain to end. Three common lengths — choose the look you prefer.

Floor-length curtains should stop 1–2 cm above the floor. For a puddled effect, add 15–20 cm extra.
3

Allow for fullness

Each panel should be 1.5× to 2× your rod width for a full, gathered look. Order 2 panels per window.

Flat — too tightRECOMMENDEDGathered — ideal (1.5–2×)Luxurious (2–2.5×)
When in doubt, go wider — a fuller curtain always looks more elegant. Each size shown is per panel — always order 2 panels per window.

Three things worth knowing

  • Hang your rod as close to the ceiling as possible — it makes any room feel taller.
  • For bay windows, measure each section separately and order one pair per panel.
  • Blackout curtains work best when the two panels overlap by at least 5 cm in the centre.
